First, verify the file you are trying to open's type
by scroling the mouse over the link without clicking, and read the
file name in the lower left corner of the window :
- You are
trying to open a PDF File:
- If
you click the link and a window appears requesting a program
type to open the file:
- Then you must download Adobe
Acrobat reader. Refer to the introduction preceeding the
pedagogical activities descriptions. There, you will find
a link for this software.
- If
you click the link and nothing happens:
- Be
patient, your computer is trying to open an ENOURMOUS
file. It will take a while, which is quite normal.
- If
you are in a hurry and are looking for a quicker way:
- Then
you must right click on the link and choose the option
Save file as... You will then be able to save the
file wherever you want on your hard drive and open it
later when you get a chance. Moreover, it will open much
faster.
- You are
trying to open a Word (.doc), Excel (.xls) or PowerPoint (.ppt)
file:
- If
a few seconds after clicking the link nothing
happens:
- Be
patient, your computer is trying to open an ENOURMOUS
file. It will take a while, which is quite normal.
- If
you are in a hurry and are looking for a quicker way:
- Then
you must right click on the link and choose the option
Save file as... You will then be able to save the
